Hello !
It’s been two weeks since A Kishoutenketsu in the countryside, my last game, was released. And wow, so many people played it and were happy about it and shared their happiness with me ! I really didn’t expect this, but it has been wonderful (and I hope it continues for a bit :)).
At time of writing, the game has been “viewed” (I don’t know how many people actually played the game but I know how many came on the game page) 2 445 times. This is huuuuge, but the number doesn’t stop creeping up. So I wanted to thank you all, for playing it, for finishing it or not, for liking it (or not !).
These wonderful human beings talked about A Kishoutenketsu in the countryside on their websites :
- Owen Ketillson named it “Itch game of the week” on January 30 : https://medium.com/owen-ketillson/a-kishoutenketsu-in-the-countryside-itch-game-of-the-week-cd007d3a2816#.w51oxjbun
- Pierrec wrote a great review on the Oujevipo blog (in french) : http://oujevipo.fr/general/5898-a-kishoutenketsu-in-the-countryside/
- Bart Bonte just shared the game, but the very best part of this is the comment section, and the tips people gave each other : http://www.bontegames.com/2017/02/a-kishoutenketsu-in-countryside-browser.html
- And just yesterday, Tom Skyes wrote kind words about the game on PC Gamer (*O*), among several other great games : http://www.pcgamer.com/free-games-of-the-week/
So yeah. Thank you again for your nice words, your advices, your thoughts on A Kishoutenketsu in the countryside (the title of my next game will be shorter, I promise). I’m very happy to know people liked what I did, and I certainly will make sure you like my future works !
And you can still play the game HERE on itch.io, if you haven’t already.
Have a really nice day :)
“A Kishoutenketsu in the countryside” is my last game and it is OUT NOW !
You can play it on itch.io by clicking on this link : https://heskhwis.itch.io/a-kishoutenketsu-in-the-countryside. I hope you will like it ! Don’t hesitate to give me any comments on it, or any questions.
And if you enjoyed it, I’d be very pleased if you could buy the standalone edition : it’s not much, but by just paying $1 you’ll be able to download an offline version of the game, accompanied by its sourcecode, to play whenever and wherever you want.
Have a nice play !
A witch and a handful of vegetables. Maybe they were children before the witch turned them into pumpkins and carrots ? #drawing #witch #vegetables #pumpkin #pencil #spookystories
This week, I’ve been making a video game with Puzzlescript - a really simple and enjoyable game engine with cool constraints, and with which I have already made two games. I still have some work to do before finishing it, but here are some pictures of two of the places you’ll be able to explore : the plain, the islands and the caves.
This game is about exploring different puzzle mechanics, learning them one by one, and putting them in perspective by using them all together. It uses the Kishoutenketsu structure, a japanese and chinese narrative structure which I’ve already worked with in My First Kishoutenketsu. It allows the game to be divided in four parts : an introduction (the tutorial), a development, a twist (try to use the mechanic in a different way or in a different context) and a reconciliation (or conclusion). I have tried it before, and with this new game I’m looking to take the concept to a level higher : more mechanics, more places and more puzzles.
I hope you’ll like this game ! I will probably launch it the next week or the week after. See you then, and have a nice day !
I made a game yesterday, for the Game Jam GAMERella !
It’s called “The closet and the castle” and you can play it on itch.io : https://heskhwis.itch.io/the-closet-and-the-castle. The theme was Inter/section.
Have fun !
